Our Story
From its creation in 1948, the Shree Baladeo Prasad Shukla School has come a long way to help children in India
Shree Baladeo Prasad Shukla, the father of our founder, was a devout religious practitioner and a great teacher. He used to teach at a school in Fatehpur U.P. India. He was a Herculean hermit who lived with a small number devotee scholars among them was our founder, Mr. Sharachchandra Shukla. Mr. Shukla later attended the University of Allahabad to complete his studies up to M.A. level. Afterwards he became a business person as a railway contractor.
Just after Indian Independence in the year 1948, Mr. Sharachchandra Shukla was inspired by people of the village of Dendasai (in the district Fatehpur) to manage a middle school and educate the children of the village up to the eighth grade. The school is a co-educational school giving free Junior Level education to all boys and girls irrespective of their religious attachments. Many people of the village donated their land to the school. Today the school has over 1 acre of land. In the year 1960, Shree Baladeo Prasad Junior High School was recognized and aided by the U.P. Government. Since 1960, salaries of the teachers are paid directly by the Government Education department of Fatehpur and were managed by Mr. S. C. Shukla. In the beginning the school was started in a small mud- hut consisting of two small rooms. Mr. S. C. Shukla gradually laid the foundations to build the school primarily as it stands now. He provided his own hard earned money for the development of the school. In the year 1995 the school was given permission to teach students up to High School level that 9th and 10th standard. These students of 9th and 10th year are required to pay tuition fees to cover teacher’s salaries. In the year 2002 Mr. S C Shukla passed away and my sister Mrs. Geeta Devi Misara of Lucknow was elected as the Manageress of the School. She continued until the year 2009.
Since 2009, Mr. A C Shukla was elected Manager of the School. Mr. A. C Shukla has built and expanded a few sections of the building. Building works of four toilets –two for boys and two for girls is almost complete. A cycle stand to house 150 cycles and motor cycles is also being carried out. In the year 2009 the school started to work to raise the level of the school to Intermediate Standard – up to pre-university education level. After the school’s persistent efforts, in 2011 we were given permission to teach Intermediate Arts and Science students. About the same time in the year 2011, the schools name was changed to the Shree Baladeo Prasad Shukla Intermediate College in the sacred memory of the founder.
In 2014, in the same village of Dendasai, we started a primary school too. This school is named after our current manager’s mother, Sarala Devil Shukla. We are working hard to improve the infrastructure of this school.
